Every newborn photo session I perform comes with the privilege of getting to know a beautiful growing family and hearing their stories. In the case of this adorable little guy, Mom and Dad literally crossed oceans to be together.

Mom is a North Carolina local, but Dad is from Ukraine. In the most modern of love stories, they met online and fell in love across the airwaves. They eventually realized that they had each found “the one” and then their precious baby boy came along.

I met up with this incredibly sweet couple two weeks after their little guy made his grand appearance so we could take his newborn portraits. As tiny as he is, he was surprisingly awake for much of his photo shoot! Those teeny little eyes were just so curious and he wanted to be part of the action. Still, we managed to get plenty of portraits of him being his sweet and mellow self.

For most of these newborn baby portraits, we went with a simple, timeless look and a neutral color palette that will never go out of style. It perfectly captures how quaint and kind this family is. I absolutely love the portraits where this little guy is cuddling with stuffed animals - he looks so cozy!

We did mix it up for a few of the portraits. This cute baby boy looks like the most precious little reindeer, and his portraits in blue are really capturing that fun-loving little boy energy. Mom and Dad can’t wait until their little guy is big enough to start playing baseball, so we brought in a bit of wishful thinking and created a little baseball portrait as well with a ball and a tiny bat.

If you have a new addition to your family on the way, I’d love to create their first professional portraits that you can treasure forever. Book your newborn photo session today with me at Heidi Houser Photography.

Photo lovers, today I have the distinct pleasure of introducing you to baby T, who's officially seven days new,I think we can all agree: His hair, should earn him a spot on the cover of every baby magazine in the nation! Seriously, I'm practically melting from cuteness overload!Anyway, as you can see from the pictures below baby T and I had one of the best sessions together.I ask Jackie how she  prepared him for the session. Her preparation efforts allowed us to have an especially awesome shoot together. Jackie said she followed the newborn guides we had emailed her.Baby T slept all the way through the two hour session. Because the shoot went so well, I asked Jackie if she would share one helpful piece of advice with other mothers planning a newborn session (See – I've got your back, moms around the world). Her biggest piece of advice is: keep baby awake and feed baby after arriving at the studio.

Welcome back to the blog, dear readers! Today I’m sharing a preview of the newborn session I recently had with baby Georgia, who was welcomed into this big world on 4 weeks ago.. As you can imagine, Mom and Dad are equal parts exhausted and delirious with their sweet baby G and I feel so lucky to have been given the chance to be a (small!) part of their parenthood journey.Their main piece of advice to making sure all goes off without a hitch? Keep baby awake and feed baby upon arrival to studio So, so sweet!
